When injected below the chin, BELKYRA® reduces fat, resulting in a more contoured neck profile and jawline. As it is a prescription-only medicine, Belkyra® contains a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid which imitates naturally occurring deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid treatment is only available from your clinician. Deoxycholic acid also occurs naturally in the body where it helps to break down dietary fat. Two to three treatments are required and treatment is initially followed by swelling which may last a few days. When injected under the chin, it works by eliminating the fat cells like a balloon. Repeat treatment is usually undertaken a month later.
